Kolkata unveils 4 advanced 360-degree water sprinkler vehicles for cleanliness and pollution control

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has introduced four newly modified water sprinkler vehicles to aid in city cleaning and pollution control efforts. These vehicles, refurbished from older models, are equipped with advanced features designed to handle a variety of urban maintenance tasks, including washing roads, watering plants, and cleaning road dividers. The new vehicles are a part of KMC's ongoing initiative to improve the city’s cleanliness and manage pollution levels more effectively.

Each of the four new water sprinkler vehicles features a 360-degree rotating spray gun, enabling them to spray water in all directions for efficient cleaning. Additionally, the vehicles are equipped with extendable pipes that can reach up to 50 feet in length. This allows the vehicle to be stationed at a distance while still being able to spray water over long stretches, covering areas that are not easily accessible with traditional equipment. The flexibility of these vehicles makes them suitable for cleaning both wide and narrow spaces.

These vehicles are designed for multiple functions. They can water plants along road dividers and sidewalks, clean roads, and wash dividers with ease. The ability to rotate the spray gun and extend the pipes makes it possible to clean both horizontal and vertical surfaces. This includes reaching high areas such as the exteriors of buildings, statues, and streetlights. The long reach provided by the extendable pipes allows the vehicles to clean elevated areas up to 50 feet high, ensuring a thorough cleaning of surfaces that would otherwise require additional equipment.

The vehicles have been thoroughly tested by KMC and are now ready for deployment. After successful trials, the vehicles have been handed over to the KMC’s Parks Department. The department will use these vehicles for maintaining greenery and ensuring effective cleaning of public spaces. The vehicles are expected to improve the efficiency of cleaning operations, particularly in areas that are difficult to access with conventional cleaning methods, such as congested streets and elevated structures.

With the addition of these new vehicles, the KMC aims to enhance its pollution control measures, particularly in densely populated areas. The vehicles will help mitigate air pollution by washing road surfaces and spraying water into the air to reduce dust. Furthermore, the watering function of the vehicles will help maintain green spaces in the city, contributing to the overall aesthetics and environmental health. The new sprinkler vehicles are expected to play a crucial role in keeping Kolkata clean, reducing pollution, and maintaining its public spaces more effectively.
